Perhaps I'm a Runner?

Flash-foward several months again and I've discovered that this whole running thing is an addiction...and I've gotten Greg hooked. Muahahah. :>

Follow my journey as I prepare for the Chicago Marathon and get in tip-top shape. A far cry from my days as a fat kid that took like 25 minutes to run a mile in gym class. If only Mr. Simpson could see me now...

MLK, Baby

For the past few years, MLK day has been about the start of the training for the Mini. Technically training starts the week before, but this is the weekend of the first long run. Usually the following thoughts go through my mind:

"Oh, crap. I was supposed to run 3 miles this weekend."

"That sucks. I'll do it Monday."

This year, not only did I run 3 miles on Saturday, I did weights and another 3 on Monday. Making me a badass.

Waiting to be motivated

I need new music. That's my conclusion after the first week of training. Or I need something in my life to happen to frustrate me more... Maybe I started running for the wrong reasons. Now it just seems hard. Life is good. I'm happy, I don't really care too much if I gain a couple of pounds because I'm not basing my happiness on it. Anyway, I'm getting to a better place mentally. I'm feeling the benefits of running... And I've got a new partner. Greg's running with me and is doing a great job. It's good to have someone to keep me accountable. Plus he makes me feel like I'm a running rockstar. Can't let him think I'm not. :)

Go Balls Deep!

I had no idea what to call this post, so that's what you get. Dodgeball was on while I was on the 'mill. Tonight I felt like I was on the brink of getting back into running. It was hard, but I felt and understood the necessity of pushing myself and not quitting because I was tired. Then I accidentally hit the "Stop" button.

Nice job, champ.

Oh well. 15 more minutes of angry running and I was done.

Distance: 3.10 miles?

Back in the saddle... er on the treadmill.

A few things got me out of bed this morning:

1. The wind.
2. The sound of the siding on my house tinkling in the wind. (Apparently this only happens in the winter when the temp is below 35, but DANG it is freaking annoying.)
3. Training for the Mini started today.

Let the fun begin.

Distance: 3.25 miles, bitches.
