Perhaps I'm a Runner?

Flash-foward several months again and I've discovered that this whole running thing is an addiction...and I've gotten Greg hooked. Muahahah. :>

Follow my journey as I prepare for the Chicago Marathon and get in tip-top shape. A far cry from my days as a fat kid that took like 25 minutes to run a mile in gym class. If only Mr. Simpson could see me now...

Brick wall.

Today's long run was an emotional rollercoaster.

I started out not really thinking about anything... and then I had a momentary "runner's high." It's that feeling where your entire body is thrilled and determined to run the distance. Mentally I'm thinking "I'm going to run 10 miles today. I kick ass. Eat your heart out random-dude-running-by-me."

Fast forward 40 minutes.

"My feet are killing me. Could I possibly need new shoes again? I just bought these in April. Am I getting shin splints? My personal trainer is an idiot. I cut out weight training on my legs and now it just hurts. "

Fast forward 20 minutes.

"I can go 6 down and 6 back. No problem. Kinda in the ghetto though...hmm. I need a big dog."

Fast forward 25 minutes.

"Did that guy just say 'Good Morning?' OMG. I'm hallucinating. And we're done. 9 miles it is."

I then continued to walk and somehow became inspired (by Madonna) to strut down the Monon. More muscles engaged when you walk like you're on the runway. :)

Distance: 10 - ish
Time: 1:57:57
