Perhaps I'm a Runner?

Flash-foward several months again and I've discovered that this whole running thing is an addiction...and I've gotten Greg hooked. Muahahah. :>

Follow my journey as I prepare for the Chicago Marathon and get in tip-top shape. A far cry from my days as a fat kid that took like 25 minutes to run a mile in gym class. If only Mr. Simpson could see me now...

15 miles, b!tches!

Ohhh, my. Where to begin? This weekend I went to Chicago to run 15 on the lake shore with Ade. It was relatively great. The distance didn't seem that bad, and somehow we got through it. Even though there was a lot to look at (people included) I only remember staring at the ground for two hours. Which is kind of weird.

I also used Gu for the first time and experimented with Sport Jelly Beans. The jelly beans are easier to eat, but don't have any caffeine, which sucks. I've also purchased a fanny pack, which came in handy cuz I could put my inhaler in it. I don't think I could have finished without it.

Recovery was kind of a biotch though. I got back to Ade and Mark's apartment and promptly laid my sweaty self on a towel in the middle of their hardwood living room floor and fell asleep. Eventually I got up and showered and then Ade and I grabbed lunch and basically stared at each other because we were so out of it.

We furthered our recovery at the Cubby Bear. Apparently running makes me really susceptable to alcohol, too. Either that or I have no tolerance for Irish car bombs. Awesome.

Distance: 15 miles.
Time: 2:25:00 (approx.)
